Movie for the thrillseeker

North Face (Adventure, Drama, German):

Raoul says- This movie is based on a true story. An awesome German movie of friendship, adventure and survival. Two climbers, Toni & Andi, attempts to summit the most dangerous rock face in the Alps--
The Eiger (Murder Wall).

Missy says- This true story is all about love and relationships with a little dose of outdoor adventure. A true tearjerker but encouraging and motivating at the same time. Pick your climbing partners well!

*Interesting Fact--Missy and I actually paid to see this in theater even though it's out on video

The Complete Package

Son of Rambow (Foreign/Comedy/Drama):

Missy says- You know a good movie when you can smile, laugh, cheer and cry! Two little boys explore the meaning of friendship and imagination while leaning on eachother for support with their dysfunctional home lives. Believe me, you will love this movie (if not, I'll by you a Coke)!

Raoul says- Another good one. Although the cover and title sound cheesey, it's definitely worth watching. The kid--little Rambow--have the wildest imagination.

Feel-Good Movie of the Year

The Stoning of Soraya M (Drama):

Raoul says- One , if not, the best movie of 2009. Got a lot of buzz on NPR when it first came out. But as most indie films, faded and were forgotten. VERY uplifting and an excellent family film...if you're into the entire force-your-wife-to-give-you-a-divorce-and-if-she-says-no-mastermind--a-scheme-to-have-your-entire-village-stone-her-to-death-scene. The film's based on a true story. Stars Jim Caviezel (Jesus Christ), Shohreh Aghdashloo (Ben Kingsley's wife in House of Sand and Fog---also a good one).

Missy says- Bring the tissue and I mean A LOT of tissue. Really makes you appreciate being a woman in this country. I think about this movie and I tear up but definitely a must watch. I do agree with Raoul as one of the best movies of 2009, Shohreh Aghdashloo is really great (I love her raspy voice).

Nov. 3rd Movie Pick of the Week

The Royal Tenenbaum (Comedy):

Raoul says- An oldie but a goody that came out in 2001. Gene Hackman, Anjelica Huston, Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Luke and Owen Wilson. Documents the rise and fall of a family of geniuses: a real estate tycoon, playwright and a junior tennis champion and their dark and dysfunctional relationship with their father.  Features an awesome soundtrack.

Missy says- Pretty hilarious at parts but also a little sad how a family can become so dysfunctional and distant. All the actors are really great though.
